| Die Risikobewertung von gentechnisch veränderten Organismen wird, von der Europäischen Behörde für Lebensmittelsicherheit EFSA durchgeführt. Auf Basis dieser Risikobewertung durch die EFSA werden gentechnisch veränderten Organismen in Europa zugelassen. EFSA verstößt bei dieser Risikobewertung mehrfach gegen gesetzliche Auflagen zugunsten der Industrie. | The risk of GMOs are not well studied, and there is a lack of fundamental understanding of the complexity of genomes. | |
Short comings and uncertainties in the risk assessment of GMOs
1. Differences between synthetic and natural genes
2. We kno almost nothing what a gene does and when it work. We look at biological systems with more complexity than before
3. The most of the genome is junk DNA. 98 % of the genome is not coded in genes. As we know less than 1 % about gens we know almost nothing about genomes. As rice has 50.000 gens and man only 20.000 genes it is clear that the complexity of organisms lies not within in the gene but with the gneome i.e the junk DNA
4. There is no single long term toxicity test (24 months study) of GMOs. only short term test 28 Days or 90 days study are available.
5. With this shortcomings and lack of understanding of genomes a sound risk assessment is not possible
6. The approval of GMOs is therefore not in line with the precautionary principle. | |
